Taylor Swift, in full Taylor Alison Swift (born December 13 1989 West Reading Pennsylvania U.S.) American pop and country music singer and songwriter, whose stories of heartbreak in the early years achieved wide success in the early 21st century. Swift discovered a love for music as a child and soon progressed from performing in kids' shows, before making her first appearance public. Swift was 11 years old when she performed The Star-Spangled Banner at a Philadelphia 76ers Basketball game. In the following year Swift began to write songs, and also picked up the guitar. She drew inspiration from the country music artists such as Shania Twain and the Dixie Chicks (now the Chicks) Swift crafted original material that reflected her experiences of tween alienation. Swift was 13 when her parents decided to dispose of their Pennsylvania farm and relocate to Hendersonville Tennessee. She could then devote all of her efforts to contacting country labels located in Nashville.
